The GM800 meets the GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) MF/HF radio requirements as required for SOLAS regulated commercial vessels engaging in international voyage. The radio meets the MED, "wheelmark" requirements for European merchant ships.
The GM800 has passed rigorous environmental testing and quality assurance processes. The radio is designed to provide reliable operation and long-lasting durability under harsh maritime environments. Infact, the controller has IPX7 protection (1 m depth of water for 30 minutes).
The dedicated DSC watch-keeping receiver continuously scans the six distress channels in rotation. A total of 100 MMSI members for DSC calls can stored with a 10-character ID name. The DSC Multitask function shows up to seven DSC procedures. The GM800 is also capable of sending a distress relay call.
The Bridge Alert Management (BAM) function enables the bridgeteam to devote full attention to the safe operation of the vessel and toimmediately identify any alert situation. The GM800 can be connected to theCentral Alert Management (CAM) system and transfer BAM sentences through theIEC 61162-1 interface. It complies with the IEC 62923-1 and IEC 62923-2standards.
The 4.3 inch colour TFT LCD provides almost 180 degree wideviewing angle and displays high resolution characters and function icons. Evenwhen the radio is installed to the instrument panel, the operator can clearlyrecognize the display information from various viewing angles. The night modedisplay ensures good readability in low light conditions.
By adopting a new waterproof paper speaker cone, the speakerprovides superior sound quality and a flat frequency response with a widefrequency range.,3
TheGM800 (MF/HF) and GM600 (VHF) have a unified design and offer consistentoperation. A combination of the directional keypad and soft keys providessimple operation. Most used functions are assigned to soft keys (at the bottom ofthe display) for quick one push function access. The large ten-key pad enablesyou to smoothly enter channel numbers, MMSI numbers with ID names and so on.
